A man was shot and killed during an attempt to arrest a suspect in a Mwina village, Gamba, Tana River County.

The team that was involved in the drama was disarmed, and the weapons were sent for ballistic tests as part of the probe into the shooting.

Police had visited the village on Saturday to arrest a suspect who was wanted for threatening to kill when the drama broke out.

A gang who were armed with crude weapons attacked the officers in an attempt to disrupt the mission, prompting the police to open fire.

Police said out of the drama, one Maulid Guyo, 29, was fatally shot.

Two police officers complained they were injured. They were treated and discharged from a local hospital. The mission ended prematurely as the crowd surged the scene.

Police said they want to establish the circumstances under which the shooting took place.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigation.

And a man was shot and killed in an attack in Kangeta, Igembe, Meru County.

The police identified him as Douglas Mutharimi.

An assailant armed with an M16 is said to have shot and killed the deceased in a confrontation on October 17.

Police said they are investigating the incident. The body is lying at a local mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.

The assailant is said to be a herder and operating in the area. Police said he escaped the scene.

Meanwhile, a suspected thug was shot and killed in a botched robbery in Huruma, Nairobi.

Police said the suspect was among a group that had been attacking and robbing locals of their valuables when an alarm was raised. A police team that was on patrol in the area responded and confronted the group along Nduru-Runo Road and confronted them killing one.

The other two accomplices managed to escape on foot, police said.
