Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo has urged leaders in the county to embrace unity and focus on development and support for President William Ruto.

The governor said that unity is the foundation of peace, progress, and prosperity for the residents of Isiolo.

He spoke on Thursday when he joined thousands of Isiolo residents at the Isiolo Pamoja mega rally, where they declared with one voice: One People, One County, One Destiny.

“Today, we sent a strong signal across the nation that the leaders gathered here embody the true face and will of Isiolo. I call upon all leaders of goodwill to put aside personal interests and join hands as we advance the development agenda for our people,” he said in a statement on X after the rally.

The governor affirmed that Isiolo County stands firmly behind President Ruto, and together with the government, they commit to delivering transformation and a brighter future for every resident.

"Their stand for truth and willingness to foster togetherness reflect the true spirit of leadership. I urge all leaders to embrace this unity as we work for Isiolo’s shared progress and prosperity."

"As part of our commitment to heal and unite after the failed impeachment motion, I met with Deputy Governor James Lowasa, Peter Losu (Ngaremara Ward), and Nicholas Lorot (Burat Ward)," he said in a statement on X.

Guyo recently sought to repair strained relations with Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) barely two months after surviving an impeachment attempt.

On July 8, Governor Guyo survived an impeachment attempt after the Senate dismissed the case filed by the County Assembly on a technicality.

Senators upheld preliminary objections raised by the governor, arguing that a valid impeachment had not occurred at the county assembly and that there was an active court order barring the process.

A total of 31 senators supported the motion on preliminary objection that the Isiolo county assembly never held any sitting in the assembly to impeach the governor.

On the other hand, 12 senators rejected the motion on preliminary objection and voted for the matter to proceed to a full hearing.

The lawmakers emphasized that impeachment is both a process and a procedure that must be guided by the Constitution and applicable laws.
