Embattled Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo is appealing for a truce with Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) after an impeachment motion was tabled against him last week.

The motion, introduced by Garbatulla MCA Abubakar Godana, was supported by all 18 MCAs.

It is backed by 15 documents, including Auditor General reports, Hansard records, budget statements, and video clips of the governor’s public remarks.

However, the High Court on Monday issued a temporary order halting the proceedings, offering the governor a brief reprieve.

Speaking to supporters shortly after the court decision, Governor Guyo accused unnamed critics of working with MCAs to undermine his administration.

He thanked residents for their support and vowed to continue serving.

“I want to sincerely thank the people of Isiolo for your love and support over the past few days. I assure you, I am here to stay,” he said.

Guyo, flanked by top county officials, claimed that those pushing for his ouster were wealthy individuals opposed to reforms that cut off misuse of public funds.

“I believe our MCAs are good people who have been misled by a few individuals with selfish interests. I will reach out to them so we can sit down, resolve our differences, and continue delivering services,” he added.

The governor used the moment to highlight key achievements, particularly in health and water services.

He said his administration hired 10 doctors, 60 nurses, and 20 clinical officers to address staffing shortages.

He also pointed to the completion of a new accident and emergency centre, equipped with 14 ICU and HDU beds, as a major milestone in improving healthcare.

“In the water sector, when I came into office, many wards lacked reliable water. In just under two years, we’ve drilled 68 boreholes. Yet some people still claim I’ve done nothing,” he said.

Guyo urged the MCAs to respect the court order and uphold the rule of law.

The impeachment motion accuses him of abuse of office, gross misconduct, and violations of several laws, including the County Governments Act, the Leadership and Integrity Act, and the Public Finance Management Act.

Among the allegations are failure to implement assembly resolutions, mismanagement of county funds, and a growing county debt.

The motion also cites his public statements, which it claims undermine community cohesion.

Public participation forums on the motion are scheduled across all 10 wards on Wednesday, with residents invited to submit their views through the County Assembly Clerk.

Debate on the motion is expected to take place on Friday.
