Garissa Governor Nathif Jama has called for enhanced collaboration between the county government, state and non-state agencies for effective service delivery to the residents.

Jama said that at a time, the challenges facing communities are increasing and becoming complex with each passing day, it is clear that the county government cannot tackle those issues alone.

He said effective solutions require unified action, reiterating the important role played by donors and partners in developing the county.

The governor said enhanced inter-agency collaboration ensures that there is no duplication of efforts.

“I am calling on all departments to deepen their collaboration, streamline communication channels, and commit to a culture of cooperation and shared responsibility. We must ensure that the left hand always knows what the right hand is doing,” Jama said.

He spoke at the county headquarters when he flagged off a fleet of vehicles and motorbikes donated by the World Food Programme to the county government to strengthen disease surveillance and emergency response in remote areas.

The donation included six motorbikes and two Landcruiser vehicles to support health surveillance in hard-to-reach regions, one Landcruiser for the ECDE department to enhance logistical operations, and another for the special programmes department to bolster disaster response efforts countywide.

“I want to most sincerely thank WFP for its continued partnership and support in improving service delivery, particularly in vulnerable communities. Your support has been very instrumental in getting us to where we are today,” he said.

Jama said WFP has been instrumental in supporting the county, particularly in the realm of Early Childhood Development Education through school feeding initiatives that he noted have enhanced nutrition as well as enrollment and retention.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing inter-agency collaboration and ensuring that front-line departments are fully equipped to serve residents effectively.

He also applauded the efforts of the county department of donor coordination, led by the county executive Zahra Musa and chief Officer Jamal Mohamed, for successfully securing the critical equipment on behalf of the county.
