Guyo: Let’s move into 2024 with renewed dedication to growth

Says he is proud of the work his administration has done across all sectors

Isiolo Governor Abdi ‘Guyo’ Ibrahim has assured residents of his renewed dedication to developing the county further in 2024.

In his New Year message, Guyo said he will be banking on the great strides made in the last 18 months he has been in charge of county to pursue more development and to better the lives of the people of Isiolo.

“Let us step into the New Year with renewed dedication to our development agenda... Together, let’s continue shaping a brighter future for Isiolo,” he said.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to complete ongoing projects in the county including county headquarters, the county assembly, and the Isiolo Stadium.

Guyo in his remarks, said he is proud of the work his administration has done so far, across all sectors, the top most being sealing revenue loopholes and advancement in healthcare, education, transport, water and tourism, among others.

The governor said sealing the loopholes has seen an increase in the county’s revenue collection from Sh55 million to over Sh98 million in the last financial year alone.

He said he is particularly proud of having elevated the Isiolo County Teaching and Referral Hospital to a level 5 facility and ensuring in now offers advanced medical services to the people.

“Construction of an advanced accident and emergency centre with additional theatres and an ICU unit for comprehensive health care is at an advanced stage," Guyo said.

He noted other developments including sinking of at least 17 boreholes across Isiolo and rehabilitating another 27 to ensure the county has stable sources of clean and safe water.

“Our commitment providing Modogashe residents with clean water remains on track to be fulfilled by March next year.”

Guyo stated that construction of the export-standard abattoir and ultra-modern market in Isiolo which will uplift livelihoods for at least 30,000 residents is also on track.

He said this will also benefit neighbouring counties.

The county boss added that he has also been able to enhance security in the county through collaboration with relevant stakeholders and creation of buffer zones in affected areas.

Guyo also listed the establishment of industrial parks, the distribution of relief food and bursaries as some of his key achievements.

The governor told off his critics, insisting that they should objective.
