Marsabit health department chief officers vow to deliver

Marsabit County Government operations are now taking shape as county chief officers officially take office.

Alamin Adan officially assumed office as the new chief officer of medical services in the Department of Health.

In his remarks, Alamin said he will be up to the task of ensuring that the Department of Health provides quality service delivery to residents of Marsabit towards achieving a vision of a healthy county.

He challenged the technical staff present to join hands and focus on performance in line with Governor Mohamud's manifesto of ensuring the Marsabit residents have access to quality healthcare.

Alamin Adan was formerly serving Isiolo County and has previously been a medical doctor, bringing a wealth of experience in Health system management.

He reiterated that he is particularly interested in ensuring Health indicators are improved to achieve quality service outcomes.

He noted that he expects teamwork and performance in addressing arising challenges and gaps in the Health sector.

The new chief officer of Public Health Services in the Department of Health Omar Boko Mohamed thanked the governor for believing in him and promised to work towards achieving the promise made to the people of Marsabit.

Omar outlines the importance of teamwork while promising to work closely with technical staff in ensuring better service delivery in the department.

He pledged to work hand in hand with Dr Alamin, the CECM Health Grace Galmo alongside other coworkers to ensure proper service delivery which is part of the department's core mandate.

The office was handed over to them by the Acting chief officer for Health Tache Elema who hold a brief on the success of the department.

While presiding over the handover ceremony, the county chief of staff Mr Galm Golicha congratulated the new chief officers on their appointments as the chief officer for medical services and Public Health in the Department of Health and promised to give him all the necessary support to ensure health systems run efficiently.

He reminded the new chief officer Governor Mohamud's commitment towards the improvement of health infrastructure and service delivery with the aim of achieving universal health coverage in the county.

He urged them to strive towards service delivery to the residents in all health facilities across the county.

" The county government under the leadership of Governor Mohamud Ali will continue working round the clock to ensure service delivery in all its health facilities," he said

During the handover, CECM Health Grace Galmo welcomed the new chief officers while emphasizing the importance of teamwork towards achieving feasibility and quality service delivery which is a key priority in Governor Mohamud-led administration.

She emphasized the need for the chief officers to get inducted to understand how the system of the government works and how they should conduct themselves for familiarization purposes.

The acting chief officer of the Department of Health Tache Elema highlighted the progress made in the health sector during his tenure and key areas of attention that need close follow-up for effective and timely delivery of the services.

The new chief officers in the Department of Trade and Cooperative Development have taken over the mandate in the department, with the pledge to better service delivery.

Mahad Mohamed Dida takes over as chief officer of trade and cooperates development while Guyo Ali Adano will be in charge of Tourism.

They were handed over the mandate by the outgoing chief officer Mr Tache Elema who was also reappointed by the governor to head the Department of partner coordination and disaster management.

Guyo assured county residents of his resolve to provide them with better service while promising the operationalization of Bongole resort, one of the flagship projects in the department and committed to ensuring the people of Marsabit get the value for their money and thanked the governor for according him an opportunity of serving in his government.

Mahad Mohamed Dida on his part promised to redirect his energy towards achieving excellent services in his sector for the benefit of Marsabit people and assured to serve diligently to the expectations of the governor who want to leave a legacy.

He thanked his predecessor for his exemplary leadership and service to the people and called for teamwork among the staff noting that it would ease service delivery to citizens.

He reaffirmed his commitment to sustain the already existing investment projects so as to attain the county government agenda.

"We have an enormous task on our shoulders which is to deliver the governor's manifesto to the people of Marsabit County. We have no option but to roll up our sleeves and support the governor tirelessly," he said

Trade and Cooperative Development CECM Adan Hirbo flanked by other officers from the department welcomed the newly appointed chief officers and assured them of teamwork and cooperation from the department staff.

He pointed out that the department is full of qualified personnel with diverse talents.

He thanked Tache Elema, who has been the acting chief officer for his support and commitment to the department during his tenure in an acting capacity.

The chief of staff Galm Golicha while presiding over the handover ceremony, congratulated them on their appointments and reminded them that the appointment was done on merit after the list of 92 was forwarded to the governor by the public service board.

"I have no doubts that you are the best team because you were appointed on merit and the governor expected you to be up for the task ahead in implementing key promises to the electorates," he said

He urged them to work closely with county executive committee members and technical staff to ensure the people receive necessary services.

" Working closely as a team will produce excellent results to help in better service delivery," he said

He asked the new officers to help the county boss deliver on the agenda of development by ensuring that they align the governor's manifesto with their respective directorates.

He said the governor expects accountability, humility and discipline from his new chief officers, and added that they have to offer services to residents.

Tache Elema congratulated his successors Mahad Mohamed and Guyo Ali Adano and wished them well as they took over the helm of the trade docket after their appointments.

The outgoing acting chief officer briefed the new chief officers on existing projects and programs the department implemented during his tenure.

Tache said he was elated to have served the county government in different departments and asked the new chief officers of trade and tourism to carry on from where he left while promising to be available for any consultation.

He urged the department staff to accord the new officers the support they need.

He assured the new chief officers that the department has conducive working environment and better-qualified personnel to work with.
