Wajir governor Ahmed Mukhtar has outlined his achievement since he took office as he appealed for calm following tension that has characterized the county.

Operations at the county headquarters were paralyzed on Tuesday after ousted governor Mohamed Abdi stormed the offices and forced his way claiming to be the legitimate holder of the office. He was carrying a court order.

Speaking during the 100 days in office launch on Saturday, Mukhtar said leaders should sober up and behave responsibly.

“We all have a role to play in reducing the unnecessary tensions and getting our great county back on the development track,” he said.

On Achievements, Mukhtar said the county has made Sh14m payment for persons with disability funds and cleared Sh75m pending bills for the climate adaptation fund.

In the health sector he said they have managed to upgrade the power supply through installation of a 1000KVA transformer and operationalized the oxygen plant.

In the water sector, the county has invested in maintenance and refurbishment of dilapidated water supply systems.

"Some of the notable achievements are procurement and supply of 14 generator sets to different settlements across the six sub counties," he said.

The department also procured and delivered assorted fast moving borehole items for repair and maintenance of the existing boreholes across the county.

Mukhtar said in line with Universal Health Coverage, they have identified 21,568 vulnerable households for UHC and about 8000 of the indigents have already been biometrically registered. The process of capturing the rest is ongoing.
