Meru county will build a Sh14 million open-air Nkubu market to create an environment conducive to customers and traders.

Nkuene MCA Nick Mburugu said he is grateful to Governor Peter Munya for allocating the funds. He said the facility will change residents’ economic status.

“Nkubu market was not in the budget, but the governor allowed the allocation Sh14 million. This is why he is being fought and it is a modern market, where people sell inside but what they sell on the display attract customers passing on the roads. No other market is built in such standards in the county,” Mburugu said.

He spoke in Kawampungu in Imenti South. Mburugu said his ward has used Sh24 million on education and Sh41 million on permanent hiring of ECDE teachers.
