
Drive to Inspire-Africa (DTI-A), an organisation dedicated to empowering the youth, has taken a significant step in deepening its engagement with young people across Africa.
DTI-A convened a meeting of members of its Kenyan volunteer community for a day of connection, reflection and dialogue on creating greater impact within local communities.
The event, held in Nairobi, brought together mentors and mentees from across the DTI-A network, providing a platform for participants to connect, share experiences and explore opportunities for expanding the organisation’ s impact in Kenya beyond its existing mentorship programmes.
The gathering focused on strengthening relationships within the Kenyan volunteer network while creating space for open dialogue between mentors and mentees.
Participants reflected on their experiences within the organisation’s mentorship programmes and explored innovative ways to address community needs beyond mentorship.
Many participants spoke about improvements in their confidence, career development, leadership skills, and personal growth as a result of the guidance and support they received through the programme.
One mentee, Jane Kareemora, recounted how the mentorship journey helped her overcome low self-esteem and become more confident in herself.
“Before the mentorship programme, I had very low self-esteem. Through the support of my mentor and this mentorship programme, I have become a more outspoken, confident, and outgoing person,” she said.
Her testimony was one of several shared during the event, highlighting the profound impact mentorship can have on young people navigating personal and professional challenges.

Mentors also reflected on the fulfilment they derive from guiding and supporting the next generation of African leaders, describing the experience as mutually rewarding.
DTI-A said it will continue to expand its reach across the continent, and remains committed to fostering meaningful relationships with its volunteers and developing programmes that respond to the unique needs of African communities.
The organisation currently operates a cross-border mentorship programme that connects young Africans with experienced professionals, helping to equip them with the skills, knowledge, and networks needed to thrive in their personal and professional journeys and has impacted over 40,000 young Africans as of May 2026.
Working with donors from around the world, the organisation has established a scholarship programme that focuses on addressing the financial challenges hindering the educational journeys of intelligent but needy students.
In partnership with school staff, DTI-A aims to identify and support students who demonstrate exceptional intelligence, passion for learning, and a drive to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
