ODM Chairman for Dagoreti North Sub-county, Moses Ogeto, has staunchly defended his recent victory in the party's grassroots elections.

Ogeto, who is who is also the majority chief whip in the Nairobi county assembly, has insisted that the process was "free, fair, and credible."

Speaking after the announcement of results, Ogeto affirmed that he is prepared to defend his win to the very end.

“We won squarely. Of course, those heading to the tribunal are within their rights and we shall meet them there. We do not fear because we have the facts to defend our victory,” Ogeto stated.

“If you see someone making a lot of noise, it’s not your duty to join in. We shall remain calm and steadfast in our loyalty to the party, and protect what rightfully belongs to us,” he added.

"We have party list for heaven's sake. What business do we have again in ferrying people. We shall face our competitors wherever they are,” Ogeto added.

However, Dagoreti North MP Beatrice Elachi has filed a formal petition challenging the legitimacy of the elections.

In her submission, Elachi claims the exercise did not meet the threshold of a free and fair election as stipulated in ODM’s internal regulations.

The petition is scheduled to be heard by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal on October 6, 2025.

On March 21, 2025, ODM suspended the list of Dagoretti North Constituency grassroots election delegates.

The decision follows a dispute lodged by Ogeto, who is the MCA for Kilimani Ward.

In a communication to the public, ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong'wen noted that the issue is being handled internally through consultations pending final decision.
