Nairobi MCAs have passed a motion to allow Senator Edwin Sifuna to give an address at the Third Assembly of Nairobi City County.

Minority Leader Anthony Kiragu who tabled the motion this week said that MCAs have a list of issues that needs clarification from the Senator.

Among the issues listed, the MCA pointed out that the  Nairobi City County Assembly Standing Order No. 28 allows for the senator to visit and address the house.

The MCA also noted that the Senator, who was elected on the ODM ticket in the last election garnered more votes from the residents.

“The Speaker may, in consultation with the Leader of the Majority Party and the Leader of the Minority Party, allow the Senator of the County or a visiting Governor or other such visiting dignitary, to address the County Assembly on such occasions as may be appropriate," Kiragu said.

Other issues that the assembly is looking forward for Sifuna to address include the Consolidation of leadership and arbitration of problems bedevilling the county.

Also, the  MCAs want the Senator to speak on the linkages and partnerships that the national government or its agency can engage the county government of Nairobi for effective service delivery.

The Assembly also wants the ODM Senator to address how the Senate can facilitate the full reversal of earlier transferred functions from the defunct Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS).

Last month, it had been revealed that the Kenya Revenue Authority is still in charge of the revenue collection at Nairobi City County.

This is despite NMS's tenure coming to an end last year in November.

It was said that only a few individuals in the finance sector and ICT have viewership rights of the Nairobi Revenue System and they follow to see the revenue being collected in the day.

Sifuna told the Star that he will honour the invitation to address the assembly when he gets an invite.
