Westlands Member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi has warned land grabbers over stealing public land in the constituency.
Wanyonyi said there has been a rise in cases in the area as cartels continue to become courageous.
“We shall spare no legal effort in dealing with this menace in Westlands Constituency. No public land will be grabbed, no citizen will be denied access to their rightfully acquired property. Justice must prevail,” he said.
Wanyonyi was speaking at Bohra Primary School in Westlands where members of the public were protesting the alleged encroachment by a private developer.
On Wednesday, members of the public made their way into the school premises and took down a wall that was under construction in the school.
They claimed it had been put up by the developer in a bid to separate the school from his side of the land.
Wanyonyi on Friday said he has been resisting the same land-grabbing cartels from encroaching on the land belonging to the school.
“This one has had the audacity to even start constructing a Wall to deny the pupils access to the Multipurpose Hall built in this section,” he said.
He said no valid court order has been presented by the developer to prove lawful ownership.
He also spoke of the Westlands family home that was destroyed by auctioneers last week.
“The home which they have lived in for 46 years was raided and vandalized by crooks claiming ownership,” Wanyonyi said.
He condemned the acts, which termed impunity, adding that he will look into the matters diligently.
“Innocent people and institutions have become victims and these cartels must be stopped,” he said.
