At least 600,000 people in Nairobi are asthmatic, mainly due to air pollution, county Health executive Bernard Muia has said.

"The air in Nairobi is polluted and that is why we are recording such a high number. It might become worse with time if it is not dealt with," he said.

Muia spoke

during the launch of the Asthma Care Improvement Project at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital Yesterday.

Asthma is a chronic respiratory disease that affects between seven and 10 percent of Kenyans.
