A woman has been arraigned before the Mavoko Law Courts over an alleged attempt to seize a parcel of land in Athi River valued at Sh150 million.
Beatrice Ngina Mutuku was charged with seven counts, including forgery of a land ownership title deed and forcible entry into private property.
According to the charge sheet, the alleged offences took place on September 12, 2024, within Athi River Township, where Mutuku and others not before the court are said to have gained access to the land under registration number LR 12715/627, also referenced as LR No. 40213/3.
The property is registered in the name of Kipkai Enterprises Limited, whose director, Jane Nyaboke Matoke Njagi, reported the alleged encroachment.
Mutuku is further accused of unlawfully altering land registration details on September 23, 2024, changing the number from LR 12715/627 to LR No. 46952, contrary to the law.
The court was told that some of the individuals believed to have been involved in the incident are yet to be apprehended and may have left the country.
In a related case, three men — Theophilus Muema Munyambo, Bernard Migosi Kamanda, and Joel Musyoka Paul—appeared before the same court charged with conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to Section 393 of the Penal Code.
Court documents indicate that the three, together with others not before the court, conspired to steal a 20-foot container, barbed wire, chain link, assorted building materials, and a metal gate all valued at Sh3,813,250. The property belonged to the same complainant, Jane Nyaboke.
The offences were allegedly committed on September 12, 2024, at the Olonyori area in Syokimau, Athi River Sub-County, within Machakos County.
The accused persons denied the charges and were released on a cash bail of Sh10,000 each.
Both cases are scheduled for mention on October 17, 2025, at the Mavoko Law Courts.
