A 19-year-old woman died after being trapped in a borehole whose slab had collapsed in Kathonzweni, Makueni County.

Police said Janet Ndulu was among four people who were on Saturday fetching water from a community borehole in the area when the concrete foundation collapsed.

The foundation collapsed with the four trapped therein.

The four were rushed to the hospital, where Ndulu was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

The injured were admitted in a stable condition.

The area is experiencing a drought and water shortage that forces locals to seek water from the community borehole.

Elsewhere in Ahero, Kisumu County, police are investigating a murder after the decomposed body of a man was found in a culvert.

Police said the man may have been killed and stuffed into the culvert at an unknown time and day.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.

Police said they are investigating murder in the case.

The motive of the murder was not known, police said, adding they had launched an investigation. The police appealed to the locals to report to the local authorities if there is any of their own who is missing.

And the body of a man was found on the road with a crushed head elsewhere in Embali, Vihiga County.

The incident was staged to look like an accident, police said.

A bicycle with a jerrican carrying milk lay next to the body, witnesses said.

It was established that the body was of Zablon Aruka, 48. Police said the body had several cuts in the head, and his skull was broken.

The body’s right wrist was chopped off. Police said the body was ferried to the scene after a murder elsewhere.

Residents said Aruka has been ferrying milk to a local Yala Dairy using his bicycle on a daily basis.

The motive of the October 11, 2025, murder incident is yet to be known, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy. Elsewhere in Hola, Tana River County, the body of a missing teenage boy was found in a thicket after a suspected murder.

Police said the deceased went missing on September 23, 2025, in the area, and the incident had been reported to authorities.

The body was discovered on October 11, 2025, in the Emmaus area with multiple cuts on the head.

The motive of the murder was not immediately known.

Police said no arrest had been made in connection with the murder. And in Sondu, Kericho County, two suspects were arrested over murder incidents in the area.

One of the suspects was rescued by police and taken to Kericho after a mob threatened to overrun the station, while the second one surrendered saying he feared being lynched.

Police said they are investigating the murder claims. The rescued man was taken to hospital and later moved to Kericho for his own safety, police said.
