Meru county assembly majority leader Evans Mawira who tabled an impeachment motion against Governor Kawira Mwangaza has now resolved to work with the county boss.

Mawira was instrumental in the second impeachment of Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza and even witnesses against the governor in the Senate.

The Mitunguu MCA was seen with the county boss when they attended a development tour event in Mbeu, Tigania East constituency on Wednesday, where he also defended his new dalliance with his political nemesis.

"I am doing this to benefit my people and am not going to be coerced or intimidated by anyone because the people of Mitunguu want development and to achieve this I must work with the governor who is the custodian of development in the county," Mawira said.

The legislator said irrespective of his political affiliation he will be answerable to his electorate when he seeks reelection in 2027.

He urged other MCAS to join Mwangaza in his quest to bring development to the people.

"I see no need of MCAS creating enmity with the governor whereas she said all the doors are open. If she has accommodated me and I was the one who tabled her second impeachment motion and we have forgiven each other I don't think she can lock others outside," Mawira said.

Mawira said all MCAs have the democratic right to support whoever they want.

"You can be in the opposition or support the government everybody has freedom to support whoever they want," he said.

Mawira denied claims that his new dalliance with Mwanagza might make him lose his majority seat in the county assembly.

"Other UDA MCAs have threatened to oust me but those are sideshows there are procedures to oust a House leader," He said.

"I have not done anything wrong unless they show me another governor to work with to bring development for my people."
