Malombe praised after Kitui scoops top honours at Devolution conference

Kitui county assembly speaker Kevin Katisya has led the county in praising Governor Julius Malombe for making Kitui shine at the just concluded devolution conference in Eldoret, Uasin Gichu county.

On Friday the county's exhibition booth was recognised as the first runner-up after Nakuru county out of a total of 223 exhibition stands.

“Governor, we are proud of you and our achievement. This has taken Kitui to another level,” Katisya said.

“On behalf of the county assembly I want to congratulate the county government of Kitui."

Kitui also added another feather to its cap by emerging top in revenue collection among the 47 counties.

The county attained 84 per cent of its revenue collection target followed by Kirinyaga(80 per cent) and Vihiga at 77 per cent.

Katisya was addressing Kitui MCAs, CECs, county and external exhibitors and county staff all led by Malombe and his Deputy Augustine Kanani at the conference on Friday.

“It is not an easy achievement. It is a very big achievement. We are proud of you,” Kaitisya said.

He further said such a fete is a result of selfless devotion by all who participated and the recognition will give Kitui a good name and draw in more investors to the county.

The speaker also assured Malombe of his support and partnership from the county assembly to make Kitui better.

An elated Malombe noted that he was happy with all who participated and contributed to making the Kitui emerge victorious at the devolution conference.

“Being the second-best booth out of 223 is no mean achievement,” the governor said.

He noted that the Kitui exhibition booth was among the five places that President William Ruto visited when he officially opened the devolution conference on Wednesday and the Head of State appreciated Kitui products.
