Whoever wins the Presidency in 2022  must initiate constitutional change within 100 days, The Service Party leader Mwangi Kiunjuri has said.

Kiunjuri said aspirants eying the presidency should explain to Kenyans how they will protect businesses and property, uplift youths, support agriculture and markets for agricultural products.

He also scoffed at Deputy President William Ruto over claims that he is the defacto leader in the Mt Kenya region.

Ruto last week declared that he is the Mt Kenya political supremo thus any other leader who wants votes from the region must talk to him.

The DP dismissed ODM leader Raila Odinga as an outsider in Mt Kenya, who is joining the vote-hunt in the region too late.

“BBI had its good and bad. What was good should have been adopted while the bad could have been scrapped and not doing away with the whole proposal. Incoming President must assure us within 100 after taking oath of office, that there is a referendum to ensure one-man one-vote one-shillings takes effect, that more funds comes to the region and the creation of more constituencies. They come to deceive you instead of advocating for what belongs to Mt Kenya,” Kiunjuri said.

Ruto has been opposed to BBI that was initiated by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila.

Kiunjuri said being the most experienced politician in Mt Kenya apart from Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi and Martha Karua, he understands why leaders do not adhere to pacts, adding that residents should not be hoodwinked to vote blindly.

“We must scrutinise past history of Raila and Ruto so that no one votes blindly. Euphoria must end. Never elect a leader because of party affiliation. Pick leaders who can tackle the challenges of miraa markets, a leader that will ensure citizens can buy land and settle anywhere in the country  and resolve historical injustice. I'll always protect and speak on behalf of our people,” he said.

Kiunjuri said Mt Kenya leaders are not fools and this is the reason most of them have political vehicles associated with them.

“Kiraitu has Devolution Empowerment Party, Justin Muturi is in Democratic Party, William Kabogo has Tujibebe Party, Mwangi Wa Iria  has Usawa Kwa Wote, Peter Munya leads PNU and do you want to say all these politicians are fools to have avoided UDA?” he posed.
