This comes as police said they are still looking for former police officers who were involved in a robbery in Matuu, Machakos county.

A team of detectives from Nairobi has joined in the hunt for the thugs who raided the bank and robbed workers of an unknown amount of money.

Police believe former policemen, among them an ex-GSU officer with a criminal record carried out the daring Tuesday morning raid on Matuu Equity Bank.

The suspects robbed customers of their cash and an unknown amount of money from the bank at gunpoint.

The team said they are following good leads on the whereabouts of the group that attacked the bank.

Investigators say that the manner in which the robbery was committed shows the attackers were either rogue police officers or ex-officers.

One of the suspects has been identified as an ex-GSU who hails from Masinga and was sacked from the service.

Three bodaboda riders have been arrested over the robbery.

They allegedly ferried the escaping gang from the scene.

They have been detained for 10 days to allow investigations into the incident.
