Bulkstream Limited has upgraded its enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to IFS Cloud, marking a significant step in digital transformation for East Africa’s port cargo and logistics sector.

The upgrade was done by Xitricon, a global leader in enterprise systems integration, positioning the bulk cargo handler at the Port of Mombasa among the first companies in the region’s logistics industry to adopt IFS Cloud. The move is expected to boost speed, reliability and efficiency in cargo handling operations.

“Our work with Bulkstream illustrates how IFS Cloud empowers port cargo operators and logistics service providers to achieve end-to-end operational control, reduce inefficiencies, and strengthen customer service,” Xitricon’s Director of Operations for Africa, Martin Crots, said.

He said unifying processes on a single platform now enables Bulkstream to deliver cargo discharge, storage, and delivery with greater precision and speed. IFS Cloud enables real-time visibility across Bulkstream’s cargo chain, streamlining coordination from vessel discharge to storage and delivery.

For customers, this translates into faster turnaround times, improved reliability and smoother supply chain continuity.

Bulkstream Chief Information Technology Officer Wilfred Waithaka said Xitricon’s expertise and experience in deploying IFS Cloud has been instrumental in ensuring a seamless and successful upgrade in record time.

“The system now allows us to manage operations with sharper accuracy and better resource allocation, delivering on our promise of efficient and seamless cargo handling,” Waithaka said.

Enterprises adopting IFS Cloud gain access to consolidated data, predictive analytics, and automated workflows—tools that help them cut delays, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery.

For Xitricon, the successful deployment reaffirms its status as a trusted IFS ERP integration partner. For Bulkstream, it cements its leadership in embracing technology that delivers measurable gains in efficiency, reliability and customer satisfaction. Bulkstream owns and operates bulk terminals at the Port of Mombasa, designed for the handling of eight million tonnes of dry and liquid bulk commodities per year across, serving Kenya and the regional markets.
