Stima Club are all set to defend their East African Darts Championship title for the fourth consecutive time at the Uganda International Open scheduled for September 13-15 in Kampala.
The reigning champions will also participate in the East Africa Darts Federation Inter-states competition, where they face teams from Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan and Uganda.
Club manager David Songok said the team is dedicated to cementing their reputation in the national and regional tournaments.
"We are ready to defend our title in Uganda and bring it back for the fourth consecutive time. The team has undergone intensive training in preparation for the upcoming competition, and we are confident we will emerge the best," Songok said.
The Uganda tournament will be Stima's third international outing this year.
In June, they defended their title at the Tanzania International Open in Dodoma while earlier in the year, the team triumphed in the men’s and women's singles categories at the Africa Darts Continental Tour in Cape Town, South Africa.
The Kenya Power-sponsored team upholds its reputation as the region's top darts club, backed by the company's commitment to nurturing sports talent.
During the flag-off ceremony, the team presented their recently won trophies to Kenya Power’s Principal Human Resource Officer, Faith Kaberenge, who praised the team for its achievements.
"The Stima have proven that they are the best in East Africa. The company is proudly associated with the team, and we shall keep on supporting them to achieve more,” Kaberenge said.
“As they leave for Kampala, we wish them well and expect them to put their best foot forward in the highly competitive tournament," she said.
