Comedian Eric Omondi speaks to the media at Lion Place on Friday, July 7, 2023.

Comedian-cum-activist Eric Omondi has hinted at the possibility of venturing into politics even as he revealed such plans are not part of his immediate goals.

Omondi made the revelations during a media interview at Lion Place in Westlands on Friday when he was pressed to say whether or not he harbours political ambitions, especially in Langa'ta constituency.

"I'm not planning or replacing anyone but given a chance, I would," he said.

Omondi said being in Parliament would provide him with a better opportunity to agitate for the rights of Kenyans since the August House is where laws are made.

He lashed out at the MPs who voted for the Finance Bill, 2023 saying they no longer deserve to be in Parliament for they betrayed Kenyans.

"I can only shout so much on your microphones but when it comes to voting (on Bills) it's the MPs who vote. If I had a chance to remove them, I would remove them today not 2027."

The comedian said that if anything, a vote of no confidence should be moved against the Kenya Kwanza government

"If there is a way to remove this government now, we would be very smart to do it now...MPs are only 300, Kenyans are 55 million," Omondi said.

When pressed further on his political ambitions, Omondi said he has never eyed the Lang'ata parliamentary seat but if the electorate in the constituency wishes to have him as their parliamentary representative, he will answer the call.

"I have never talked about Lang'ata (but if it's) Kenyans this is what I will tell them. The voice of the people is God's voice."
