Preacher Eliud Wekesa alias Yesu Wa Tongaren on Thursday asked for help to buy cooking gas and a phone for his daughter.
Speaking shortly after he was released from police custody, Yesu wa Tongaren also said two of his children have school fees arrears.
"My wife Nabii Benjamin has told me that I should buy cooking gas and a phone. Even you journalists have come to my home and know my situation, today I am asking you to help me buy cooking gas and a phone for my daughter, she is going to school today," he said.
The preacher continued to lament that one of his sons was evicted from his home in Kiambu due to rent arrears.
However, he said the County Commander Francis Koholi paid the rent for his son.
"Don't see me trending in social media and assume that I am rich, I'm not a content creator but only doing God's work," he said.
The preacher was freed on Tuesday after the court ruled that there was lack of sufficient evidence to charge him.
He had been accused of unlawful operation of an unregistered society, radicalisation and money laundering but on Tuesday the prosecution said it lacked evidence.
The prosecution had requested for Wekesa to be detained to allow investigations to continue.
The preacher had been in police custody for the last four days undergoing a mental assessment after being declared mentally unstable.
Roots Party Leader George Wajackoyah represented Yesu wa Tongaren in court.
