Kinango constituency is the largest and most populated in Kwale county, with 98,123 voters.

On Monday returning officer Joseph Mwafondo said that they were ready for the election.

"We are well prepared and everything is set for election exercise," he said.

However, on Tuesday morning there was delay of IEBC materials in the 237 polling stations in the constituency.

Despite the fact that people made an effort to be at polling stations as early as 4am, the election process started at 7.32am at Kinango Primary polling station which is among the main centres, with 2,523 voters .

The polling station received the IEBC materials at 4.30am after queueing the whole night.

Half of polling stations had not received the IEBC materials by 8am.

Samburu OCPD Fredrick Ombaka said the delays being experienced were due to lack of transport.

"Many polling stations are located in areas where we have poor infrastructure so the vehicles which were supposed to transport the materials turned down the offer, that is why we have delays being experienced," he said.
