Taita Taveta governor Granton Samboja has been impeached.

Samboja was impeached on Wednesday evening after a heated debate by the MCAs over what they termed gross misconduct.

The ward reps unanimously voted in favour of a special motion moved by Rong'e MCA Harris Keke after a four-hour debate.

Samboja was impeached on seven grounds, including gross misconduct, misleading the county assembly and misrepresentation of facts to the public with an aim of inciting the public against the county Assembly.
