Coast-based songstress, Nyota Ndogo is taking on a new role as a mentor for young women to guide them on handling life's challenges.
Speaking to Word Is soon after her "welcome home" party at Kenyan Bay in Mombasa yesterday, the Nibebe hitmaker said that varied experiences during her illustrious career in music had led her into mentorship.
"I am currently taking issues to my own hands by making sure that our girls will grow up to become responsible members of the society. I am doing this by mentoring them through motivational talks, which I believe will go a long way in helping them understand life and its challenges as they make the transition into adulthood," she said.
Nyota intimated that her mentorship program is seeking to reach out to the girls in other countries.
While in Denmark, Nyota added, she gave a motivational talk at a girls' school and that inspired her to really pursue the course.
She says: "I want to start by visiting our young girls in different schools, because that will offer me a chance to reach out to a lot of them at a go. I am focused in taking up this path because I want to see a better generation of women tomorrow."
