Catholics living in Kisumu county will travel to Nairobi to “receive blessings” from the Pope when he visits next month.

Metropolitan Archdiocese of Kisumu Archbishop Zacchaeus Okoth said preparations are in “top gear” to welcome the Pope when he arrives on November 27 for his three-day visit.

Speaking on Thursday at Tumsifu Centre, Kisumu town, during the ordination of four priests, he urged parish priests to “coordinate the transportation and accommodation of church members”.

“We have requested for buses from schools sponsored by the Catholic church to help in ferrying members to Nairobi,” Okoth said.

He urged Catholics to donate gifts towards the preparation for the visit.

Okoth urged Christians to accept God’s will in their lives, saying “following Jesus and embracing God’s will is not slavery but an entry into truth, love and good”.

He asked the ordained priests to promote the Gospel of God.

“As we ordain you, we urge you to be good ambassadors,” Okoth said.
