Security guards attached to Nyahururu ACK Cathedral Church suffered an attack on Sunday night after thugs broke into the church leaving them injured in the process.
One of the security guards who was injured is recuperating at Nyahururu County and Referral Hospital after being attacked by robbers who broke into the church premises and escaped with property of unknown value.
The robbery saw church offices broken into and vandalised including CCTV servers after attacking and tying the two church security guards leaving one unconscious.
According to Reverend John Ngenye, Provost in charge of the Cathedral, DCI officers attached at Nyahururu Police Station have conducted forensic checks and commenced an investigation.
The officers said assessment of the damage and loss is to commence immediately.
The provost said the burglars first vandalised CCTV servers before conducting breakages into the Bishop's office and cashier's office among other offices causing immense damages.
Reverend George Obure, one of the priests at the Cathedral said they were informed of the burglary and jumped over the gate to access the compound.
They found the two guards attacked, tied and one unconscious. They rushed him to the hospital.
He has called for prayer for the hospitalised security guard and for a speedy investigation to bring the culprits to book and face the full force of the law.
Obure said Nyahururu Diocesan Bishop Samson Gachathi will issue out full statement of the breakage after assessment of the damage and loss and conclusion of the investigation.
The breakage and theft followed a colourful commissioning service of clergy presided over by the Bishop on Sunday.
It is suspected that the culprits were after the Sunday service offertory collection.
