Man,49, arrested for impregnating daughter in Kiambu

A 49 years old man who is alleged to have impregnated his daughter was on Tuesday rescued by police from an angry mob who learnt about the incident.

Residents of Lare village in Lari sub-county in Kiambu county heard the mother of the girl shouting and rushed to the home.

The woman started shouting after she learnt of the daughters' predicament which she said had made her stop going to school.

The drama started when the victim’s mother questioned her why she did not go to school.

The girl had kept quiet for a long time and did not want to reveal the person who had impregnated her in fear of her father.

A resident James Macharia said the girl revealed that the father was the one who impregnated her after the mother became hard on her.

“The girl told her mother that she was expectant, and she feared telling her that it was her own father who had impregnated her,” James Macharia said.

“We were attracted by screams and when I rushed there, I saw nearly the whole village coming to see what had happened”.

Since her father was not at home, residents started looking for him and they pounced on him along the road near his home.

Macharia said women grabbed him and started beating him while others started interrogating him.

Confirming the incident, Lari sub-county police commander Adamson Furaha said the student was in her seventh month pregnant.

Furaha said the girl revealed that the suspect started sleeping with his own daughter in January and the last time they slept together was on July 2.

“The victim’s mother goes to work but her husband is jobless. When the woman comes home, she is always tired and goes to bed early. Her husband pretends to stay in the table room watching movies” he said.

“That is when he sneaks to the girl’s bedroom and spends some time there before going to his wife late at night."

The police boss said the girl feared revealing to her mother and was also hiding her belly before the mother noticed.

However, he said the suspect will be arraigned once the investigations are complete.

Residents allege that the victim used to tell her daughter that her mother was tired and she did not want to be disturbed.
