More than 300 clerics in Thika led by Bishop David Ngari alias Gakuyo have urged Raila to stop call for mass action over petition to oust four IEBC commissioners.

Gakuyo a fierce Ruto critic urged Raila to instead join Ruto in uniting Kenyans.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, the clergymen under the Covenant Clergy Alliance termed the Azimio leader a selfish man who is out to cause chaos.

They pleaded with Kenyans to maintain peace and support President William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua.

Gakuyo faulted Kalonzo Musyoka and Raila for being selfish by nominating their children to EALA while there were so many Kenyans who supported them and deserved the slots.

He further said the planned mass action was meant to benefit them individually and not Kenyans.

Gakuyo added that the church cannot afford to go against a legally constituted government.

He termed Ruto a hero, saying that Kalonzo and Raila have left their supporters in the cold while they push for their selfish agendas.

“We will not allow a few selfish leaders like Raila Odinga to destroy our nation, we are now fully behind William Ruto who was chosen by God to lead this nation,” Gakuyo said.

Bishop David Njoroge and Rev Patricia Wanjiku urged President Ruto to remain strong.

Njoroge said that the government is at the crawling stage and should not be destabilised because if that happens it’s the ordinary Kenyans who will suffer the most.

“Raila is bitter because he lost elections but we are now supporting the government," Njoroge said.

Raila has already announced postponement of the anti-government rallies that were to begin on Wednesday at Kamukunji, Nairobi.

Addressing a press conference after the coalition's Parliamentary Group meeting at SKM Command Centre in Karen, Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi said the decision was to allow for the completion of ongoing national examinations.

“We have to reschedule the start of our public engagements to December 7 due to the ongoing national examinations," Wandayi said.

The postponement comes a day after the President urged Raila and his associates not to mobilise Kenyans to take part in protests.

Raila has objected to the removal of four IEBC commissioners maintaining that Ruto is laying out a plot to rig 2027 polls.
