Former Tanzania President John Magufuli will be buried on March 25.
New President Samia Suluhu on Friday announced an elaborate programme that will culminate in the burial of Magufuli. She said he will be buried at his Chato rural home next Thursday.
The body will be moved from the morgue on March 20 for brief prayers at St Peter's Catholic Church.
The public will get an opportunity to pay their last respects at Uhuru Gardens.
Magufuli's body will then be taken to Dar es Salaam on March 21 for another session of public viewing, according to the funeral programme.
Residents of Dodoma will have a day on March 22 to pay their last respects. The new president declared the day a public holiday.
On March 23, Magufuli's body will be in Mwanza.
The former President's family will have an opportunity to honour Magufuli on March 24 at his Chato home.
The day was also declared a public holiday to allow residents of his rural home time to mourn their fallen son.
The state burial ceremony shall take place at the Chato home on March 25.
