Busia county radiologist Namudala Emukule has taken over as the new medical superintendent at the Busia County and Referral Hospital.
Dr Emukule replaced Dr David Mukabi who moves to the office of Director of Public Health and Sanitation to coordinate Universal Health Coverage. Health and Sanitation Chief Officer Isaac Omeri said the internal transfers were sanctioned to improve services, noting that the affected officers take up their new positions immediately.
Namudala was deputising Dr Mukabi before the internal departmental transfers involving 184 health workers across the county. He will be deputised by paediatrician Emma Namulala. Namudala and Dr Machasio of Kocholia Subcounty Hospital are the only radiologists in the county.
The mass reshuffle has not affected County Director of Medical Services Janerose Ambuchi, Director Public Health and Sanitation Melsa Lutomia, pharmacist Abiud Machuki, administrator Benjamin Owuor and Dr Evans Sumbeiywo of Butula subcounty.
Dr Jimmy Wafula moves from the county referral hospital (BCRH) to Kocholia Subcounty Hospital, Dr Cedric Onyango from BCRH to Port Victoria and Dr Stephine Angira from Port Victoria to the BCRH.
Other pharmacists affected include Dr Paul Mburugu who moves to Port Victoria from BCRH. He has swapped places with Doreen Ratemo. Nelson Aluku moves to Matayos from the BCRH, exchanging position with Joshua Solo. Jacob Asoka moves to Kocholia from Sio Port, while Namwaya moves to Sio Port from Port Victoria.
Four public health officers were also affected in the transfers. Martin Osotsi moves from Kocholia to Port Victoria, swapping position with Harriet Nyanusi, while Betty Ochieng moves from Nambale to Matayos, exchanging position with Mildred Wanyama.
