Kenya Commercial Bank has been nominated for African Banker Awards which honour lenders that adapt to rapid growth and modernisation of the banking and financial services sector regionally.

Nigeria's GTBank and pan-African bank Ecobank have also been nominated for the awards.

The awards, which are in the 10th year, are open to all African financial institutions.

Other strong nominees include Rand Merchant Bank from South Africa, CRDB Bank from Tanzania, Standard Bank group from South Africa and Attijariwafa Bank from Morocco.

The publisher of African Banker, Omar Ben Yedder, said the winners will be revealed at a gala dinner during the African Bank Annual meeting that will be held in Lusaka, Zambia at the end of May.

"We introduced these awards as a way of recognising the enormous potential of the African banking and financial services sector. Since then, many of our financial institutions have transformed and are well established to compete with the best in class," he said.
