Radio Citizen presenter Steve Jacob Maunda alias Shatta Bway cut one of his dreadlocks in honour of his late wife Rebecca Kukuton also known as Eva Seoke.
In a video seen by The Star, Bway asked one of his young daughters to come with a scissor and cut one of his 31 dreadlocks.
Speaking during the burial on Saturday, the presenter said he had told his wife he will be cutting his dreadlocks every time he gets a worthy cause to remind him of the event.
“These dreadlocks of mine are 31. They are a crown that represents a kingdom and the authority I have over me. I had told her the day I’ll get a worthwhile cause; I’ll be cutting one dreadlock at a time so that I don’t forget that event,” Bway said.
After cutting the hair, Bway observed a moment of silence while staring at the dreadlock in his hand and placed it on his wife's casket.
While addressing the mourners, the media personality praised his departed wife, adding that she was a loving and protective woman.
He wished her well in the afterworld, adding that she should always rest knowing that he loved her with all his heart.
“As you make your way, go with that crown and I love you. I will love these children as you wanted me to. I will protect them and be the best dad ever,” Bway said.
“The last words you told me to go home and look after these kids. I will do that.”
Shatta took to his social media to share the news of the devastating loss of his wife on June 26, 2023.
He expressed his disbelief and the overwhelming emotions he was grappling with, adding that he now had the daunting task of raising their children alone.
