In life, our belief system is typically shaped by our experiences. As a kid, it was easy to believe anything, but as you grew older, it changed. Due to your experiences, it probably now takes longer for you to believe.

As people, the art of belief in an exciting future makes us feel alive. It is a vital aspect of life. When you live with the conviction of better, you operate with hope in the present, and hope is energy. People need to know that tomorrow will be better than today – they need to know that their failures are not a permanent sentence to a life of misery. It’s empowering to know that, at some point, success will happen for you. When people lose hope, they stop believing in a great future.

In fairness, the storms of life hit people harshly sometimes and drive them to points of despair. Consequently, hope becomes painful, and they conclude it’s easier to accept their lot. So, dreaming of a successful future becomes a luxury that they can’t afford. Here, hopelessness sets in, and people are unable to dream. If this is you, there is hope because you are alive. You can dream again. You can regain confidence in your dreams – and here are three principles to help you.

Fight for Your Mind: When life broke you, it altered your self-image. Your traumatic experiences gave you a failed identity. Your self-perception changed. You stopped seeing yourself as someone who can succeed. Therefore, you must first fight for your mind by engaging in activities that would gradually build hope in you. Find out what works for you, and consciously stick to hope-building activities for an extended period.

Act: As you fight for your mind, it’s important to take actions that lead you toward your future. Growth in consciousness means that you will begin to get new ideas, and your desire to do and be more will gradually return. In this season, it’s important to act on the ideas that you receive. The fresh ideas are your re-direction. A new path is unfolding for you. So, act.

Celebrate Small Wins: The path of restored hope is paved with small wins. It’s a process that builds from win to win. Therefore, it’s crucial to recognize a win no matter how small and celebrate it. Mark those moments when life reassures you that you’re on the right track. Each small win gets you closer to the big one – and that’s worth celebrating.
