Kisii School began their Kisii County rugby Sevens title defence on a good note after thrashing Moi High School Gesusu 51-0 as the Term Two games started at Nduru Boys' on Wednesday.
Kisii School, the county and regional 15s champions, led 30-0 at the break.
Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho, walloped Sameta High 43-0 as Kerongorori thrashed Moi High School Gesusu 31-0.
Sameta recovered to whip Nyagichenche 19-7 as Rioma Mixed and Nyamache drew 7-7.
In the girls’ category, favourites St Anne’s Nyangoge and Rianchanchabera won their opening games.
Nyangoge thrashed Kereri Girls 25-0 while Rianyanchabera walloped Rioma Mixed 42-0 and Nyagichenche 10-5 to qualify for the quarterfinals.
Rianyanchabera and Nyangoge are seeking to reclaim the county titles.
Ekerubo beat Boraracho 10-0 as Kereri Girls' recovered from their earlier loss to beat Nyamagwa Girls' 12-0.
In netball, Omwari thrashed Boitang’are 40-10 to warn their rivals while Ibacho had an impressive 32-9 win over Geturi.
At Nduru Girls', Mariwa edged Kineni Pefa 20-10 as Itumbe Mixed defeated St Patrick's Mosocho 13-8.
Kereri Girls' face Ichuni Girls in the basketball 3x3 on Thursday while Nyabururu face Igorera. St Angela’s Sengera face St Linus Etago as Sameta Mixed entertain Nyabisase Mixed.
Boys' champions Nyanchwa Boys and favourites Kisii School booked places in the last eight.
Nyanchwa Boys will be up against Igorera while Kisii School will battle Tendere Mixed. Hosts Nduru Boys will play Sameta Boys as Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho, will tackle Itierio Boys.
In volleyball, Nyabururu and Kereri Girls' won their opening three games. They came from a set down to beat St Theresa’s Nyangusu 3-1 while Kereri overcame Sengera Parish by straight sets.
Ayora had a straight-sets win against Eramba as Kiabigoria overcame Nyagancha 3-0.
Favourites Riokindo Boys', Eramba and Metembe beat Nyagichenche, Nyagiki and Gakeri by straight sets respectively.
