Fresh from winning the John Andrews Sevens tournament on Sunday, Lenana have their sights on the Turi International Sevens in Nakuru later this month.

Coach Nick Abok said Sunday's win has bolstered their confidence as they prepare to meet top sides in a fortnight.

“Winning the John Andrews tournament was one of our targets this term as we build towards the secondary schools' county regional championships in July,” Abok said on Wednesday.

The former Impala coach, a Maseno School alumnus, said the tournament will help gauge their preparedness.

"It's a big championship. It features teams from Uganda, Qatar, Great Britain and the national under-15 side. We know we will be tested accordingly but will be ready for it,” added Abok.

However, he has some injury concerns with Louis Kipyegon, Kofi Annan, Adrian Mabya and Alvin Njau recovering from knocks suffered during the weekend tournament.

“We will manage them carefully in the next fortnight and hope they recover in time for the Turi Sevens and the schools' championships in July. They are some of our key players," added Abok.

Over the weekend, Lenana defeated bitter rivals Nairobi School 26-7 in the final to defend their title.

They beat Dawamu Academy 31-7 in the semifinals after coming off their pool on a clean slate following wins over St Mary's School (60-0), Alliance Boys (31-0), Dagoretti Mixed (31-7) and Moi Forces Academy (48-0).

Abok promised to work on certain aspects of play he was not impressed with as they seek to be competitive in the two upcoming assignments.

"We are not a complete package yet. We have a few tweaks up our sleeves which we will use and I am confident we will emerge victorious,” added Abok.

Meanwhile, Abok revealed they will field their development side at the St Mary's Blackrock tournament on June 29.
