Ofafa Jericho beat Strathmore School  41-5 to advance to the Prescott Cup semis over the weekend.

James Kaili's charges were in control from the kickoff, outscoring their opponents by seven tries to one in a one-sided contest.

Ofafa, who won the tournament in 2022, will now face Upper Hill in the semifinals slated on June 8.  The second semi will pitt Rift Valley Academy against either Mangu or Nairobi School on the same day.

The match between both sides has been postponed until Saturday at the Nairobi School grounds. Kaili hailed the performance of his boys who only had three training sessions, owing to the late opening of schools this term.

“The boys showed hunger from the kickoff. They were energised and played exceptionally well. There are areas of improvement and I believe we will get better as we go along," he noted.

He added: “Strathmore are a good side and put on a spirited fight. The scoreline does not take anything from them; they can beat any school team on a good day."

"Our forwards dominated during the attack and we defended well as a team. Our kicker had a good day in the office, which also made us gain more points. The team is preparing for the semi-finals and any team can win at that stage. We have zero pressure going into the semi-finals,” said Kaili. Ofafa led 24-0 at the interval.

Ofafa Jericho II earned a 28-0 win over Strathmore to reach the semis in the second tier, which is also known as Damu Changa

Rift Valley Academy II thrashed Dagoretii II 63-0 as Upper Hill II edged Alliance II 19-3 to also advance to the semifinals.

The Prescott Cup format was changed from a league format to a knockout after last year's tournament was abandoned.
