Equity Bank coach Peter Mwathi is confident his charges will maintain their placing at the top of the Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) league.

The bankers are top of the 25-team table with 32 points and have two matches this weekend against varsity champions Daystar University on Saturday and Trans Nzoia on Sunday.

“If we play balanced games against top contenders National Cereals and Produce Board, we should maintain our top placing,” noted Mwathi after posting the two wins.

“I am working hard to make this team strong and so far, I am happy with all that I am seeing. I am working on new things as I hope to hang on to the top spot.”

Kitale-based Trans Nzoia will be in the city for four games. They face the Buccaneers and second-placed General Service Unit (GSU) on Saturday. The following day, they tackle Boomerang and Equity Bank.

“The boys have been doing their exams and so preparations have not been entirely top-notch. But at this stage of the campaign what matters is team chemistry and we currently have that,” said Nzoia’s coach Edwin Adamba.

In the other match of the day, Nickson Oyaro’s fourth-placed Ulinzi will aim their guns against Boomerang as they hope to continue their surge to the crown.

In the women's category, Ulinzi Sharks will go joint top with champions Nairobi Water Queens with a win against Daystar University.
