Masinde Murilo University of Science and Technology RFC have moved to the top of the KRU Championship table after being awarded maximum points against Western Bulls.
Western Bulls were found guilty of fielding an ineligible player during their 3-3 draw on Saturday last week. Bulls fielded Felix Bukhutse who is not properly registered.
“Bukhutse will serve a three-match suspension and remains ineligible to represent Western Bulls until he is effectively registered,” read part of the ruling from the KRU fixtures committee.
There will be no financial sanction accorded to both club and player. Further, the union said points will be deducted from Western Bulls.
Masinde Murilo remain in pole position for a home semi-final after moving to the top of the log with 39 points same as Daystar Falcons ahead of the last regular season games on Saturday. Masinde Murilo, however, have a better goal difference.
MMUST travels to Mombasa for a crucial game against Mombasa RFC while Daystar travels to Kakamega to face wounded Western Bulls at the Bull Ring.
South Coast Pirates are on 36 points and are praying both MMUST and Daystar fail to win their games for them to seal a home semi-final. South Coast Pirates will travel to Nairobi for an encounter with United States International University Africa’s Martials.
MMUST, Daystar Falcons, and South Coast Pirates have both won eight games and lost one game.
In other games scheduled for Saturday, fourth-placed Impala will face the University of Eldoret’s Trojans in Eldoret as Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology’s Cougars welcome the University of Nairobi’s Mean Machine in Juja.
Kabarak University have been relegated to the third tier league.
