Ababu on Shujaa win: Sport has power to change the world

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has congratulated Shujaa after they retained the Safari Sevens title, outsmarting Samurai 19-0 at the RFUEA grounds on Sunday.

Shujaa gave the home crowd a thrilling experience that left all the fans on their feet cheering on the team.

"Hongera Shujaa for your well-deserved Safari7s victory. Big up fans for the amazing atmosphere, including Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga who not only passionately cheered  TeamKenya but also graciously accepted my invitation to join us in prize giving," Ababu posted on his X platform.

Shujaa saved the day after the women's team Lionesses narrowly lost 15-12 to neighbours Uganda Lady Cranes in the women's cadre.

“Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand. Sport can create hope where once there was only despair,” Ababu, who attended a Sunday service at Don Bosco Catholic Church, Karen before gracing the pulsating finals added.

The two-day competition was nothing less of a success.

Fans turned out in large numbers to cheer on their teams. The atmosphere was electric, showcasing the zeal of both the players and the fans.
