Mwamba inside centre Billy  'The Kid' Odhiambo has announced his retirement from rugby aged 30.

The Kenya Sevens rugby player has had an illustrious career in the game spanning 11 years, participating in 68 tournaments and scoring 111 tries.

"As I mark my 30th birthday I’d also like to announce my retirement from Rugby. I thank you all for your support over the 11 years of my career and excited to see what the future holds. Billy ‘The Kid’ Odhiambo out," he posted on his X platform.

Odhiambo became the fourth Kenyan to reach 100 tries in Kenya’s history as Shujaa narrowly overcame favorites England 19-14 at the Los Angeles Sevens, United States two years ago.

The then 28-year-old scored the second try for Shujaa after a brilliant display from Daniel Taabu. Taabu reacted quickly from a penalty tap to set up Odhiambo who sped off to score.

The try saw Odhiambo set a new record in the World Rugby Sevens and join other three Kenyan greats.

Siblings Collins Injera and Humphrey Kayange as well as Willy Ambaka are the three players to hit the over 100 tries for the national team.

Injera holds the second place for the number of tries scored in the World Rugby Sevens Series with 271 while Kayange and Ambaka boast 159 and 131 tries respectively.
