Multiple world champion Faith Kipyegon has called her season an incredible one after capturing the Diamond League trophy in Oregon, USA on Saturday.

Kipyegon powered to her fourth 1500m Diamond League title after clocking 3:50.72 at the Prefontaine Classic — the final leg of the Diamond League.

The Kenyan track sensation made short work of a talent-laden field, beating world silver medallist Diribe Welteji of Ethiopia to second in 3:53.93.

Olympic silver medallist Laura Muir of Great Britain clocked 3:55.16 to place third.

"Happy to finish my track season in style with a new meeting record of 3:50:71," Kipyegon said.

"From setting the world record to receiving the trophy, this has been incredible. I am extremely grateful to God for the wonderful year I have had."

Kipyegon stated that she was not under the pump to achieve an excellent time in the race at the grand finale on Saturday.

"I didn't keep an eye on the time. Instead, I just ran my race and waited to see what would happen when it was over. Therefore, running a meeting record was incredible," she said.

Saturday's victory capped off a stellar season in which she shattered three world records in Florence (1500m), Paris (5000m), and Monaco (mile).

The 29-year-old mother of one went on to clinch a 1500m/5000m double at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Meanwhile, African record holder Ferdinand Omanyala narrowly missed out on the 100m trophy in Eugene after finishing third in an outstanding 9.85, 200th of a second behind winner Christian Coleman of the United States.

Omanyala, who had been ranked second in the Diamond League standings before the final in Eugene, rocketed out of the blocks to complete the race with a tremendous charge down the finish line.

However, in a photo finish, former champion Christian Coleman won in a world-leading time of 9.83 seconds, with reigning world champion Noah Lyles, also of the United States, second in 9.85.

The feat propelled Coleman to his first Diamond League trophy in five years on home soil.

Elsewhere, Simon Koech won the men’s 3000m steeplechase in 8:06.26 to bag his maiden Diamond League trophy.

In the women's race, world record holder Beatrice Chepkoech settled for second in 8:51.67 ahead of world junior champion Faith Cherotich who wrapped up the top three in a personal best of 8:59.65.

World champion, Kenyan-born Bahraini Winfred Yavi won the race in a personal best time of 8:50.66 while Commonwealth champion Jackline Chepkoech finished fourth in 9:01.18.
