National Sevens team, Shujaa, have booked a quarterfinals berth against New Zealand at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Shujaa wrapped up second in Group D behind leaders Australia who pipped them 7-5 in their final Group D match at the Coventry Stadium on Saturday.

Alvin Otieno converted a try to fire the East African lads into a 5-0 lead at the breather. Australia restored parity through Corey Toole before Dietrich Roach converted for a lead.

Shujaa will face New Zealand at 11.10 pm EAT.

In the other quarterfinals, Australia face Oceania nation Samoa. Olympic gold medalists Fiji will battle Scotland.

African Sevens giants South Africa have booked a date with Canada. The semifinals will be played on Sunday.
