Kenya Rugby Union goes to the polls today to elect a chairman and four directors in one of the most eagerly contests in history.

After several months of campaigns and debates 60 delegates will decide the outcome of the most anticipated elections.

Stakeholders and pundits have opined about the poor state of the game and apathy from sponsors and players in the game which has culminated in poor performances by the Kenya sevens and Kenya 15s in the recent past.

All eyes will be on the chairman slot which has attracted three candidates with secretary Oduor Gangla up against , former vice- chairman Sasha Mutai, and former treasurer Asiko Owiro.

Gangla has promised to revamp the game with emphasis on University and test matches for the Kenya 15s being spread to other counties as well strengthening governance and management at the top echelons of the sport.

On his part Mutai has promised exclusivity, and empowering of clubs as well as player welfare and technical support. Mutai will be making a second stab at the chairman's position having lost to outgoing chairman Richard Omwela by 25 votes to 23 votes

Owiro said he was keen on improving the profile age grade rugby and structures to be in place if elected as chairman as well restructure the various national teams in the country.

The 12 Kenya cup teams have two votes each while the championship and Nationwide sides have one vote each with the executive committee of Kenya Rugby Union voting which includes the chairman, vice chairman, , Secretary and Treasurer also voting in the election.

The race for the directors has attracted several candidates who include former international Kenyan internationals, Ken Thimba, Angela Olum, former union directors Musa Ndale John Kilonzo, former Kenya Lionesses team manager Sarah Otieno, and incumbents , Ian Mugambi , and Ray Olendo.

Those elected will serve for a four year term, unlike the previous times where the thy served for two years
