After victory at the Ronald Marshall & Tobby Gibson Cup in Njoro last weekend, Elvis Muigua will lead more than 100 elite amateurs into battle for Sh500,000 when the NCBA Coronation & Bendor Trophy tees off at Nakuru Golf Club this weekend.

The 12th leg of the 2026 Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) Series will run from Friday to Sunday, with golfers also fighting for crucial ranking points and silverware.

With last year’s champion John Lejirma absent after turning professional, the Nakuru showdown is guaranteed to crown a new winner, leaving the door wide open for a packed field of contenders.

Muigua headlines a strong cast that includes Adel Balala, William Odek, Uganda’s Joseph Kasozi, Elly Barno, Rwanda’s Felix Dusabe and John Kamaisi, who sits second in the 2026 KAGC rankings. The women’s field will feature Kellie Gachaga, Mercy Nyanchama and home golfer Emma Pennington.

The 2026 KAGC standings remain tightly contested heading into the weekend, with Jay Sandhu leading the leaderboard on 560.00 points.

Kamaisi occupies second place on 373.20 points, followed by Junaid Ayaz Manji in third on 349.52 points. Muigua sits fourth on 347.26 points, while Amos Odongo rounds off the top five on 326.29 points.

Elsewhere, the NCBA Golf Series rolls on with the Moi Airbase Mug scheduled for Saturday, while the NCBA Faldo Junior Tour Kenya Championship runs from Saturday to Monday.

More than 80 golfers are expected at Moi Air Base, all chasing top honours and coveted qualification slots for the season-ending Grand Finale.

Speaking ahead of the weekend’s golfing action, NCBA Group managing director John Gachora highlighted the growing pathway connecting junior, amateur and elite competition.

“This is yet another weekend where we have activities from the junior level to the elite amateur level. Again, more golfers will have the chance to qualify for the NCBA Golf Series Grand Finale this weekend. Junior development is a core part of NCBA’s sponsorship strategy,” Gachora said.

“This Series is a platform where young talent is discovered, nurtured and celebrated, and we look forward to a good weekend,” he added.

Qualification for the Grand Finale, set for November 27 at Karen Country Club, will go to the Overall Gross Winner, Men’s Gross Winner, Lady Gross Winner, Division Two Men’s Winner, Division Two Lady Winner, Division Three Winner and the leading Junior golfer.
