Twenty-year-old Elvis Muigua believes winning the Sigona Bowl over the weekend is a morale booster ahead of this weekend's Victoria Cup in Kampala, Uganda.

Kenya will be seeking to retain the regional title they won at Limuru Golf and Country Club in 2022.

On Sunday, Muigua fired five under par 211 to win the Sigona Bowl title beating defending champion and clubmate Michael Karanga and Kenya Railways' John Lejirma — who tied at three over par 219.

“I was well prepared for the Sigona Bowl. It was tough but through the guidance of my partner, Michael Karanga, I managed to win with a big margin,” said Muigua.

The Kiambu junior player said he has what it takes to guide Kenya in Uganda between February 1 and 3.

"I have gained some experience unlike last year, when I was young and naïve. Experience is the best teacher. We shall use our experience to rule Uganda,” he said.

The team of ten players is expected to leave the country on Tuesday morning.

Others are Karanga, Lejirma, Eldoret’s Danny Chelogoi, Nyali’s Adel Balala, Vetlab pair of Ebill Omollo and Krish Beiju, Josphat Rono from Golf Park and Sammy Mulama of Mombasa. They will be captained by Limuru’s Dennis Maara.
