Former Manchester Salver champion Simon Karari and George Themburu were top Kenyans as Ugandan Geoffrey Nsubuga won the Uganda Amateur Open Championships on Saturday evening at the par 72 Uganda Golf Club.
Nsubuga led five players, who have been featuring in the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) Series, to dominate the 72-hole event.
Nsubuga, the winner of the Tea Field Trophy title in Kericho, led compatriots Ibrahim Bagalana, Joseph Cwinyaai, Michael Tumusiime, and Philip Kasozi to the top positions in that order.
Nsubuga carded thirteen under par 275 for the title beating his close competitor Bagalana, to second with four shots at nine under par 279 as Joseph CWinyaai at four under par 284.
All the top five players have been playing in the KAGC series as they seek points ahead of the Magical Kenya Open.
Karari and Themburu completed the four-day 72-hole tournament tied in position 35 with +30 318.
