Monari wins fourth leg of DTB tourney in Kisumu

Monari led a field of 120 golfers who participated in the competition.

• Kericho Club captain David Biegon, playing off handicap 9.2, scooped the longest drive award while in the lady’s category, Dorcas Bett was crowned the winner.

• The series has also visited Kakamega, Mombasa and Kericho counties with the last leg set for next month at the Eldoret Sports Club.

Andrian Monari of Kisii Sports Club was named the overall winner of the fourth leg of the DTB ‘bank with us’ golf tournament held at the par 72 Nyanza Golf Club in Kisumu County. 

To bag the title, Monari beat a strong field of 120 golfers. Playing off handicap 22, Monari carded an excellent score of 40 points beating his closest challenger Portash Oloo — playing off handicap 20.7 — who carded 37 Stableford points.

Monari said: “I am so happy with my win today (Saturday). I had an incredible team who pushed me to deliver the result. I thank DTB for this incredible tournament. Beating 120 golfers is not a mean fete and I can’t wait to participate in the next tournament.”

Kericho Club captain David Biegon, playing off handicap 9.2, scooped the longest drive award while in the lady’s category, Dorcas Bett was crowned the winner. Raju Bhayani was the best on the first nine while O. Abubakar won the second nine gong.

Dorothy Kemunto was awarded as the 'best effort award.'

Speaking at the event, Kisumu County Governor  Anyang Nyong’o said: “Nyanza Golf Club is one of the oldest clubs in the country and has today hosted a field of over 100 golfers, who have shown their skills on the course."

"The County Government of Kisumu has sports at the heart of its operations and we will continue working with like-minded partners like DTB to improve golf in the lake region.”

The series has also visited Kakamega, Mombasa and Kericho counties with the last leg set for next month at the Eldoret Sports Club.
