Winning trophies, not just matches, is the vision driving former Kenya Under-20 forward Luis Ingavi after completing his move to SportPesa Premier League side Shabana.
The pacey striker said his ambition is to help the Glamour Boys challenge for silverware while also hitting double figures in goals during the 2026/27 season.
“I want to help the club win trophies. Winning games does not mean a lot to a player, but winning titles is the best part,” said Ingavi.
The former Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) FC forward, who joined the American side from Monteverde University, has also set himself a target of scoring more than 10 goals in his debut season. “I want to score more than 10 goals and help the team get as many wins as possible,” he said.
Speaking after his unveiling on Tuesday evening, Ingavi said Shabana’s passionate supporters, community spirit, coaching staff and style of play convinced him to join the Kisii-based club.
“It feels amazing. It’s something good to be part of the Shabana family. I’m happy to be here. The huge fans, community, and the coaching staff and playing style inspired me to join the club,” he said.
Ingavi added that settling into the squad will be easier because he already knows some of the players, including forward Brian Michira. He is also looking forward to playing in front of Shabana’s passionate supporters at Gusii Stadium.
“The fans show up in big numbers, and they demand wins. They always push the team to win, which is a positive thing to have them behind you when playing,” he said.
Ingavi is the fifth player to join Shabana during the current transfer window as the club continues an extensive squad overhaul. The Glamour Boys have also signed left-back Dennis Wanjala from Tusker, goalkeeper Bixente Lizarazu Otieno from Posta Rangers, midfielder Sigmunn Maina Irungu from Swedish side AIK Framtid FK and former Nairobi United captain Daniel Bichiok.
The arrivals come after the departures of defender Wycliffe Omondi Awiko to Nairobi United and goalkeeper Stephen Ochieng to Tanzanian side Pamba Jiji, while Gilbert Abala has been training with Posta Rangers.
Midfielder Keith Imbali is also reportedly set to join Bandari. Club Secretary General Elizaphan Kerama has revealed that Shabana intends to release at least 15 players and recruit only 10 as part of its rebuilding process ahead of the new season.
